Confluence LGBT Chorus of Willamette Valley has a new staff member and she's making herself at home. In the second of a series of benefit performances for the chorus, concert pianist Stephanie Lynne Smith follows the wildly successful "A Cabaret to Welcome Myself" in Salem with an evening at the Portland Community Music Center for "A Concert to Welcome Myself." As newly crowned Assistant Director, Smith introduces herself to the community by way of Bach, Debussy and band director jokes. Featuring members of the board and chorus, her singing lawyer friend Molly McKay and her singing dogwalker of a wife Jen Brown, this concert promises to be hilarious, moving and unique.

ABOUT THE ARTIST: Born and raised in Wichita Falls, Texas, Stephanie Lynne Smith holds a Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance Degree (1998) from University of Colorado at Boulder and a Master of Music in Chamber Music Performance Degree (2001) from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. Somewhere along the way to becoming a concert pianist, she fell in love with singers and the theater, and discovered her passion for promoting composers and new compositions. She served as Artistic Director and Conductor for the Lesbian/Gay Chorus of San Francisco, commissioning an opera, a musical and countless works for chorus, was Cantor and Worship Designer for Grace Cathedral in San Francisco, and toured with Bugs Bunny at the Symphony as pianist/slide guitarist, performing with the New York Philharmonic in Avery Fisher Hall and the Los Angeles Philharmonic at the Hollywood Bowl. Training under performance coach Shari Carlson (San Francisco/Hollywood) since 1999, Stephanie tours as concert pianist for Broadway veteran Franc DAmbrosio (Phantom of the Opera/Godfather III), produces Miss Smith master classes and performances, and works tirelessly to promote new works. Beginning September 1, she accepted the position of Assistant Director for Confluence LGBT Chorus of Willamette Valley and will direct the small ensemble, Influence.
GUEST ARTISTS: MOLLY MCKAY Molly McKay is an attorney and a nationally recognized leader in the marriage equality movement. McKay served as the Media Director for Marriage Equality USA and has debated, sung, marched and cheered the way to victory in her signature white wedding gowns. She lives in Portland with her spouse and 3 year old daughter.
