The Maltese Falcon
The Maltese Falcon is celebrating its 75th Anniversary year. Staged as an old time radio drama like those recorded in front of live audiences, the IP Radio Players have most recently produced classics including Superman/The Green Hornet, The Lone Ranger/ Gunsmoke, War of the Worlds, Frankenstein and Dracula among others.
The October 29th performance will immerse audiences into the closely adapted world of the 1941 film noir classic starring Humphrey Bogart as a private eye who gets mixed up in the hunt for a jewel-encrusted statuette. The original radio script is an adaptation of the Dashiell Hammett novel by the films director, John Huston. The Maltese Falcon featured an indelible performance by Bogart, being played by Stuart, as the hardboiled detective Sam Spade. The film earned three Oscar nominations: Best Picture, Adapted Screenplay, and Supporting Actor for Sydney Greenstreet (played by Egon Schein/Libertyville).
IP Executive Producer David Brian Stuart is joined by fellow SAG-AFTRA actors Mia Hirschel, George Elliot and Michael Scott Blackman, along with non-union local actors including Dave Retseck (Libertyville), Erik Martin (Hoffman Estates) and Abra Chusid (Libertyville).
