Step back into the heady world of mid-century Hollywood, where men were men and women were girls, and only a very rare backstage talent could rise above the gossip, hype and hoopla of the studio system. A Conversation with Edith Head, written by Paddy Calistro and Susan Claassen, resurrects decades of Tinsel Town glamor through the perspective of one of it's greatest legends: eight time Oscar winner, Edith Head. Working hand-in-glove with actors, auteurs and producers, Ms. Head became the perfect fit for her era, influencing fifty years of fashion as well as creating a famously (and liberating) range of uniforms for the world's most famous airline, Pan Am.
Susan Claassen brilliantly performs A Conversations with Edith Head with host Stuart Moulton, effortlessly bringing the character back to life, magically inhabiting another time and place (not so very different from our own. just better dressed). Claassen's deft channeling of the godmother of costume design - as she takes the measurements of Elizabeth Taylor, Bette Davis, Audrey Hepburn, Jimmy Stewart, Elvis, Grace Kelly and Robert Redford - has delighted audiences and critics around the world.
This one night only performance benefits The Pan Am Museum Foundation, dedicated to the history of the world's greatest airline and committed to collecting and preserving the evolution of air travel from it's very beginning through the last decade of the twentieth century. Journey back in time with us for a spectacular evening featuring the wit, wisdom and humor of Edith Head.
