Duo Tandem - Storied Songs
Collaborating with composers and writing their own music over the past 2 years, Duo Tandem has compiled a program of new music based on people, places, poetry, and art. From Skip James and John Henry to the contemporary Turkish poetry of Can Yücel, each piece of music has a story to tell.
Formed in 2011 in San Francisco, Duo Tandem (Necati Emirzade and Mark Anderson) is now based in Chicago and London. Mark, a native of Chicago, and Necati, a native of Cyprus seek to combine their respective folk music cultures into a unified international style that can resonate with a global society. They also make a point to perform with non-traditional music venues such as the Pleasant Home in an effort to side-step the perceived stuffiness of classical music and try to bring new listeners to the guitar.
