ASCNYC Changemaker Awards Celebration, November 29th, 6:30 p.m.
Moujan and Elham Vahdat present ASCNYC's Changemakers Awards celebrates our 25th year serving New Yorkers in need and honors those whose advocacy, vision, bravery and leadership transform the lives of people living with HIV/AIDS and other chronic health conditions.
- This year's Political Vision Changemaker is awarded to our Honored Guest, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo for his leadership in promoting the campaign to end the AIDS epidemic by 2020. Governor Cuomo has broken new ground in advocating for the reduction of HIV infection rates to only a few hundred in New York State by the year 2020, which represents outstanding model leadership for the rest of the country. - This year's Social Impact Changemaker is awarded to our Special Guest, Olympic Diving Gold Medalist Greg Louganis for his courage as an HIV+ and LGBT rights champion. Along with his HBO special and being included at long last on the Wheaties box of sports champions, Greg Louganis is a model of HIV+ leadership, athleticism, mentorship, and giving back to the LGBTQ community. - This year's Corporate Leader Changemaker is awarded to attorney Joseph Saltarelli of Hunton & Williams for his 15 years of pro bono legal guidance and dedication to ASCNYC. He has tirelessly given his keen legal advice and support enabling ASCNYC to produce transformation and positive change for tens of thousands of New Yorkers.
Along with the chance to meet our honorees, you will enjoy both a live and silent auction. You will connect with hundreds of other NYC business, civic, and healthcare leaders. The evening's menu will include tastings from NYC's top chefs and an open bar featuring cocktails, beer, and wine. All proceeds will benefit ASCNYC and directly support our programs and services helping New York's most vulnerable get a second chance to reclaim their lives.
ASCNYC produces transformation and Positive Change in many critical areas: HIV and Hepatitis C testing, treatment, and access to healthcare. We conduct pioneering peer education and training, in addition to assisting with housing, recovery, job placement, counseling and more. We will mark this 25th anniversary milestone by paying tribute to all the brave men and women who epitomize Positive Change.
