A Special Evening of Song with Johnny Irion, Dave Wilson (of Chatham County Line), and Tim Bluhm
Johnny Irion, the great country-folk singer, is teaming up with his friends, Dave Wilson of Chatham County Line, and the California rocker Tim Bluhm, for a one-of-a-kind house concert in Winston Salem, NC.
Tickets are $20, all proceeds go to the musicians. Doors open at 7:00, music starts at 7:30.
There's no mistaking Johnny Irion's unique pedigree -- his granduncle is literary giant John Steinbeck and his father-in-law is folksinger Arlo Guthrie -- but the South Carolina native gained a following on the strength of his own music, fronting several bands as a teenager before morphing into a country-folk artist as an adult. Irion has released albums with his wife, Sarah Guthrie, and as asolo artist, beginning with 2001's Unity Lodge. His newest band is the critically acclaimedU.S. Elevator.
Dave Wilson's Chatham County Line is aveteran ensemble at the top of its game, sticking to its considerable strengths: poignant songwriting and inventive acoustic arrangements that draw upon a broad array of American roots influences, highlighted by trademark three- and four-part harmonies that shine throughout. Formed in Raleighin 1999 from members of the band Stillhouse,the band has released seven albums including six on the Yep Roclabel , and have become popular in Europeas well as their native United States.
Tim Bluhmis an American songwriter, producer, multi-instrumentalist, singer, and musician currently residing in California. He has performed solo, in addition to being a singer/guitarist and theprimary songwriter of rock band The Mother Hips. He is part of the duo the Skinny Singers with Jackie Green, and is a member of The Rhythm Devils, Ball-Point Birds, and Nicki Bluhm & The Gramblers.
