Art, Literature & Cuisine: Reaching Across Time & Distance
Picasso and Rivera: Conversations Across Time is an upcoming exhibit opening at LACMA. The idea that art works in conversation is mirrored in both literature and cooking.
Maxine Hong Kingston wrote, Oh, but the true poet crosses eternal distances. Perfect reader. Come though one thousand years from now. A poem can also reach reader born one thousand years before the poem. Wished into being.
All great art crosses time and space, impacting both artists and the world they live in.
Literary Affairs invites you to join us for a private docent led tour of the exhibit Picasso and Rivera: Conversations Across Time at LACMA. We will tour before the museum opens then reconvene at Surfas to cook and enjoy a Spanish Lunch with Maite Gomez-Rejon of ArtBites. Our recipes will pay homage to the 1950 cookbook, A Book of Mediterranean Food by Elizabeth David. David was the Julia Child of England bringing exotic ingredients and recipes to post-war Britain.
