Come and join us for the OPENING EVENT of the annual LIT in the LOU BookFest with children's author Patricia McKissack receiving the Tradition of Literary Excellence Award (past awardees are William Gass and Jane O. Wayne). Ticket includes appetizers and music. The Benefit Party admission of $25, payable here, or at the door, helps fund this years' Bookfest and its visiting authors (see below). Purchase early as space is limited.
The BookFest: LIT in the LOU is a program of the Saint Louis Literary Consortium, a nonprofit 501(c)3 devoted to supporting literary organizations, businesses and their constituents for the betterment of St. Louis and the region.
THIS YEAR (our 3rd fest) focuses on literature for our youth, from children's pre-readers to young adult fiction. Our guests are Marc Brown, author of the PBS "Arthur" series among other books; and author Jacqueline Woodson with award winning "Brown Girl Dreaming" among other winning titles. Local children's authors will join our special guests for the full day festival on Saturday, at Jackson Park School, with readings, signings, activities for kids and food trucks on site. Check it out at literarystl.org
The festival will wrap up with an Literary Pub Crawl (also ticketed) at venues along the Delmar Loop, with featured themed refreshments and of course, all your favorite local authors in multiple genres.
