Aaron Atkins Album Release Show at Forager
ABOUT THE LP: Spinning Plates- Indie rock meets 80s, Atkins affixes a vintage lens onto a contemporary landscape with songs that mix nostalgia and homage with an undeniably new voice. With narrative flourishes that place listeners into the somewhat dark, claustrophobic interiority of characters and situations and melodies and structures that carry us into more familiar roads of 80s rock and pop. The songs show a deft craft and announce that there is a new raw talent on the scene.
THE VENUE: Officially opening in 2017, Forager is a social gathering place featuring a rotating lineup of top local chefs, brewers, musicians, and artists. Representing the innovative and the new, Forager is collecting and curating some of the best talent that San Jose and the Bay Area has to offer.
ABOUT THE ARTIST: Aaron Atkins- Atkins is an alternative rock act from Mountain View, California. Aarons music blends shiny synthesizers with scratchy guitars and wraps it in a rough around the edges approach to production. Born in Mountain View, Aaron began playing music at an early age and stuck with it, constantly making at any given opportunity. However, it wasnt until moved back to mountain view from a stint in Canada did he have something to say and channel into one summative project.
ALSO FEATURING: Israel Sanchez- Sanchez an American Songwriter who's music teeters along the styles of multiple genres. He has gained most recognition for creating a sonic soundscape through the use of his pedalboard. Hailing from East San Jose, he is quickly gathering traction with his unique approach.
Mardi Morillo- After losing partial vision to glaucoma, Mardi Morillo quit his job, and through this dark period, songwriting changed his life. Based in the Bay Area, his music aims to inspire others with songs that explore themes of love, connection, and hope.
Drew Storey- Immersed in the American songbook of classic rock and pop songs of the 1950s and 60s, Drew Storey brings a unique point of view refencing the sounds and motifs of the old hit factories while holding both a deep sense of appreciation and irony.
