SOUND CHECK a workshop about sound for live events
About the workshop:
Fela Davis of Soundgirls.org will teach us about sound checks for solo performers and bands. DJ alice.km will teach us how to setup for a DJ set. They will also teach us how to prepare for a sound check & how to troubleshoot sound issues at a show.

Barranquilla Studios:
Barranquilla Studios is a DIY event space in Bushwick. The space is geared toward bringing the audience closer to raw live music. The large event space has been graced by several amazing musicians including but not limied too, Sharkmuffin, El Caribefunk (Cartagena, Colombia), Alexander F (Rubblebucket, Perfect Pussy), Beech Creeps (including memebrs of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs), The Dirty Fences, Gymshorts, Vamanos, Def Girls, Rosebug, Hot Curl, Mammal, The Ying Yangs, Retail to name a few.

Female Frequency:
Female Frequency is a music collective dedicated to empowering women & girls in the music industry through the creation of media that is entirely female generated.

After a successful crowd funding campaign with RocketHub and Ovation TV to create an album made entirely by women, from start to finish, Female Frequency is expanding into a supportive and empowering community for women in music and the arts. We are fostering future all-female collaborations and hosting workshops for women to learn music production, beat making, songwriting, music marketing, and more.

Fela Davis:
Fela Davis is a front of house and monitor engineer based out of New York City. Shes a graduate of Full Sail University and has over a decade of experience in live sound. Her past experiences includes working for industry power houses Clair Wireless and House of Blues. While at Clair Wireless, Fela gained extensive knowledge of in ear monitors and wireless microphones while prepping gear for network and cable television shows like Good Morning America Summer Series, The Colbert Report and The Macy's Day Thanksgiving Parade.

The list of award winning artist that Fela has mixed front of house or monitors for includes Arturo Sandoval, KRS One, Ali Shaheed Muhammad(member of A Tribe Called Quest), Chuck Mangione and many more. When she's not creating content for her company 23db Productions based in NYC, shes mixing front of house engineer for the 4-time Grammy award winning jazz artist Christian McBride and Ottmar Liebert.

DJ alice.km
alice.km (DJ/producer) is a new addition to Brooklyn's thriving nightlife scene. Her sonic aesthetic is dark and melodic, gravitating towards house/deep house/indie dance/nudisco. alice.km was recently welcomed into The Athena Collective, and has been seen at venues across NYC including Lot 45, Trans-Pecos, and Pianos. She's no stranger to the electronic world, however, having been seen as front woman of the dark electro pop outfit LANTRNS for the past year and a half.

Edith Pop:
Edith Pop is comprised of best friends Tim Oakley (formerly of Mathematicians and Phantogram) and Laura Hajek (pandha piranha), Aided by Oscar Allen (BBDDM) on guitar and Miles Lally on bass. The songs featured on the premiere EP capture both the joyful hope and deep ennui of trying to reconcile the banality of daily life with the excitement of teenage faith in rock and roll. Based in New York, Edith Pop's debut EP is currently an independent project produced by Tim Oakley.
