Face to Face Oktoberfest Fundraiser
Come out to Urban Growler Microbrewery for Face to Face's 1st annual Oktoberfest Fundraiser. Your ticket ($25 in advance, $30 at the door) includes a pint and two carnitas (soda and vegetarian nachos also available). Live music from the Rena Haus Trio. $15 of advance ticket is tax deductible donation to Face to Face. All proceeds will be used to provide transportation assistance to youth served at Face to Faces SafeZone drop-in center and clinic.
About Face to Face: We are a 44-year-old non-profit organization in Saint Paul dedicated to empowering youth and young adults to overcome barriers and strive toward healthy and thriving lives. Over 3,000 young people ages 1124 came to Face to Face for health care, counseling, and resources last year. Our SafeZone drop-in center in downtown St. Paul focuses on serving youth who are experiencing or at risk of homelessness. SafeZone provides meals and other basic needs, walk-in health care and mental health counseling, assistance with housing, employment and education, HIV testing and health education, and more. Nearly 1,600 youth ages 14-24 visited last year, making over 19,000 visits. Face to Faces clinic on the East Side of St. Paul provides medical care, pregnancy support, mental health counseling, and health education to over 2,000 young people per year ages 11-24, with or without insurance.
Lack of transportation is a major barrier for many of the youth we serve. SafeZone provided tokens or bus cards over 18,000 times last year. This assistance helps young people get to work, school, or wherever they need to go. On a winter night when the shelters are full, riding the bus all night may be the safest option for a young person to stay warm. An average Metro Transit bus fare is $2. The tax deductible portion of a full-priced ticket will pay for 10 bus rides.
Urban Growler is the first woman-owned and brewed microbrewery in Minnesota. The mission of UGB is to bring people together through beer. The warm and welcoming UGB taproom, kitchen and beer garden in St. Pauls South St. Anthony neighborhood is a perfect setting for doing just that. Check out the UGB website for the latest brews: http://urbangrowlerbrewing.com/.
Rena Haus Trio Singer/songwriter Rena Haus rolls folk music, blues, and jazz into unforgettable performances that are somehow always intimate no matter the venue. Her music is like the sound track of our common human experience, creating a personal connection with her audience. She draws listeners close with her unassuming talent and absolute sincerity. The trio is rounded out by Ed Petsche on electric guitar and brother Bob Haus on the fretless bass.
Before you leave, talk with one of the Face to Face staff or Board members on hand to learn more about Face to Face and how you can help! Our goal is to have a fun evening, raise some transportation resources for young people, see old friends and meet some new friends. We hope to see you there!
