The leaves are still falling, yet here at Vivid Motion a sexy sugar plum fairy is already dancing in our heads! Led fearlessly by Artistic Director Alison Berry, were confident you will again enjoy our longest-running (14 years!) and most popular show, Nutcracker Burlesque!
Christmas for Clara means a fun party at the home of her best friend and favorite inventor, Drosselmeyer. When the clock strikes midnight and the party goes from frisky to wild, Clara finds herself dodging unwanted attentions from the Nutcracker Prince and the Rat King. Coming to Claras rescue is Drosselmeyer, who whisks Clara off on an otherworldly journey of adventure and self-discovery, revealing that she is much more than a brilliant inventor and (maybe...just maybe?) more than a friend.
Feast your eyes upon sultry and supple Arabian dancers, flirty balletic Snowflakes, fierce fan-wielding Spanish dancers, a rumbling pack of wild Celts and the saucy Bright Waltz ladies! Our 2016 production of Nutcracker Burlesque features Darcie Bassett as Clara, Andrea Dudley (Clara, Nutcracker Burlesque 2014) as Drosselmeyer, Oliver Jones as Nutcracker Prince and John Larson (Captain Hook, Peter Pan 2016) as Rat King; Katy Christie debuts as Dew Drop Fairy and Emily Zack will reprise her role as Sugar Plum Fairy. Abigail Tompkins and Stephanie Lalonde will delight en pointe as Dirty Dolls and behold the one-and-only Erik Monty in a sexy solo number!
Featuring original choreography by Director Alison Berry, MJ Emerson, Shea Murphy, Brigitte Paulus, Emma Tompkins, and Emily Zack, the 2016 holiday season promises to bring the most inventive and exciting Nutcracker Burlesque performed in Portland yet! Sponsored by Shipyard Brewing, Cabana, Gorham Self Storage, Print Bookstore and Yelp! Of Maine.
Performances will run nightly from December 16th-23rd at St. Lawrence Arts. Doors open at 6:30pm and performances begin at 7:30pm. Tickets are $18 and will go on sale online Saturday, November 26, at 8:00am. Tickets for all 8 performances always sell out very quickly! Don't miss your chance to see this unique holiday show!
