Astoria's Best Blues and R&B Review
A wonderfully prepared buffet dinner with salad and appetizer bars, dancing to great music provided by the best musicians from around Astoria, door prizes, giveaways, helping hungry folks by just being there having fun. Happy people enjoying life to the fullest and having a great time......... That's what this night is all about. A true review with our congenial and classy host Troy Hunt of Troy & Company. It's non stop music and entertainment the likes of is rarely seen anymore. Once the show starts........ It goes non-stop until it ends more than 2 hours later. No 15 minute breaks between sets here!
The veteran players on stage have hundreds of years of combined experience as professional musicians. Articulate, accurate and most of all....They groove! Led by our music director for the night Richard Thomasian. Richard is a musicians musician. He has decades of experience playing in and leading bands in many genres.
We will be graced by the presence of Maggie Kitson of Maggie and the Kats. From an article by Dinah Urell for Hipfish : Vocalist Maggie Kitson cut her coastal teeth with the Bond Street Blues Band but it was the music clubs in the city of New Orleans where she began singing the Blues, paying her dues and and discovering her talented affinity to the great American genesis. Through the nineties Kitson shouted out the powerhouse Blues with Bond Street's big band ensemble, generating fans and inspiring Blues lovers to get off the couch. She is probably THE woman involved in live local music to have, We are so glad to have Maggie and some of her band members join us for the night.
Barney Perrine and Tim Kelly Round out our show. Barney has a soulful, smooth quality to his voice. His music is a melodic blues that will mesmerize you. Tim is our resident blues rocker. Chunky rhythms with a flair for blazing hot melodic leads. 5% of door sales will go to Feeding Empty Bellies, a local charity that feeds our homeless and poor population in Astoria. Please come by their table at the show and say hi.
This show has been a work of love by all involved. The love of the music, the love for our friends and families. The love we send to our neighbors and fellow travelers. You can come and feel & hear that love...... Saturday, October 1st, 2016. Doors open at 6pm. Buffet opens at 6:15. Show starts at 7PM.
