Beneficial Blues for Artist Residency in Project w/ International Blues Singer Thornetta Davis
The Capital Area Blues Society (CABS) and Keys to Creativity (KTC) are very honored to support and expand the influence of arts education in our local schools. Arts funding has been severely cut, and we at CABS and KTC are determined to bring the arts back with guest teachers and performances ranging from dance, music, fine arts, written and spoken word, theater and various other creative activities. On September 25, 2016 we will host Thornetta Davis, Detroit's Queen of the Blues, who will entertain everyone like no one else does. There will also be a jam session with local musicians afterwards. Previous to the show there will be a very impressive exhibition in the KTC Event Gallery, "The Golden Age of Album Art", with a lecture by curator Doug Sjoquist beginning at 6:00 pm. Houlihan's restaurant will sponsor the event with a variety of wines. Whole Foods will supply a lavish selection of hors d'oeuvres, and the KTC galleries will have beautiful art for your viewing pleasure. We hope to raise $2500 at this event through ticket sales and donations.
