During her lifetime, Mormon pioneer midwife Patty Bartlett Sessions would deliver 3,977 babies. Valued by her community for her great skill both in delivering babies and ministering to the sick, Patty remembers fording swollen rivers to deliver babies out on the plains, sending her husbands new wife packing, losing her beloved mare to Indian Wars, and soldiers who left mud on her floors on their way to the Bear River Massacre. With hands ready to reach out to heal, Patty recounts her remarkable life with humor, pride and regret.
