BURLESQUE 5: Create a Solo for Stage or Boudoir (Spring 2017)
Do you yearn for the limelight? Starting your very first solo act? Revisiting an unfinished piece or one that didn't quite work? Well then, it's showtime for you! In this 7-week session, you will develop a solo act from start to finish. No matter where you are in the creative process, this 7-week intensive series is the perfect place for you to get the guidance you need in a supportive environment.
Ophelia Flame offers expertise and inspiration, helping you better understand your direction, what needs attention, and how to make decisions. We'll discuss the process from start to finish, including concept, music selection, costuming, choreography, stage presence and more. Wear comfortable clothing, bring a notebook and a pair of heels. At the end of your series, students will be eligible to perform in the student showcase held in June 2017. Space is limited; advance registration is strongly encouraged.

About the Instructor:
Ophelia Flame is an internationally renowned instructor with 23 years of experience in the art of the tease, making her the preeminent burlesque teacher of the Twin Cities. But experience isn't only what makes her an excellent teacher. It's her personal connection with students, her ability to communicate her attention to detail with students of all levels, and her passion for guiding people on a path of self discovery in a fun and often ridiculous ways.
Ophelia teaches a well-rounded curriculum of classes at The Playful Peacock ranging from introductory to advanced and specialty workshops such as her wildly popular BURLESQUE FITNESS and her acclaimed class that focuses on stage fright, CALM THE %$# DOWN! Miss Flame's specialties are strutting with intention, walking in heels and classic feather fan dances. She is also a life long practitioner of Hatha Yoga in the Himalayan tradition, benefits from three generations of yogic study and is a certified Vinyasa instructor through Corepower Yoga in Minneapolis, MN.
Ophelia is honored to be an instructor and current board member of the Burlycon, the nation's premier educational conference for burlesque artists in Seattle, WA. She has also enjoyed sharing her love of burlesque teaching classes in Chicago, Colorado, Florida, Fargo, St. Louis and Toronto.
THE PLAYFUL PEACOCK SHOWGIRL ACADEMY, the first school of its kind in the Twin Cities, was founded by Ophelia Flame and her bosom buddy, Gina Louise. Ophelia and Gina have been performing together since 2003 and have been teaching burlesque workshops since 2005, adding to it's faculty the illustrious Elektra Cute in 2014. The belief that there's a bit of showgirl is all of us is the drive behind their mission: to teach burlesque technique, performance, and history while encouraging self-expression and body confidence in a fun environment welcoming to students of all levels and backgrounds.
