3rd Annual CIDER SWIG - the Greater Peninsula Cider Festival
THE CIDERS ARE COMING!
The 3rd annual Cider Swig celebration returns to Gig Harbor with over 90 ciders to sip, live music on 2 stages, Apple Pie Contest, award winning fare, Kids Apple Zone, and more!
Join the fun at the Cider Swig, one of the largest cider-centered festivals in the Pacific Northwest
Among the 28 participating cideries to be showcased at this year's event are returning favorites from Washington and Oregon, such as: Alpenfire Cider, One Tree Hard Cider, Anthem Cider, Rambling Route, Cockrell Hard Cider, Snowdrift Cider Co., Dragon's Head Cider, Tieton Ciderworks, Finnriver Farm and Cidery, Locust Cider, 2Towns Ciderhouse, Methow Valley Ciderhouse, Nashi Orchards, Neigel Vintners Cider, Reverand Nat's Hard Cider, Wandering Aengus Ciderworks, Number 6 Cider, Washington Gold Hard Cider, Whitewood Cider and Tilted Tree Cidery. *list will be updated as applications are received.
And, several Swig newcomers will be joining in the fun, including Elemental Hard Cider, Rootwood Cider Co.,and Spire Mountian Cider from Washington, and Bull Run Cider and Portland Cider Co. from Oregon.
Our great local Heritage Distilling Co. will return to serve up their Fall Classic Apple Cider Whiskey, too!
Select food pairings including amazing seafood from Taylor's Shellfish Farms, Asian fusion by Spicy Papaya, Smokin Zee's BBQ, nibbles, samitches and sweets by GNOSH, woodfired pies from the Pizzarium by Europa Bistro, gourmet dogs and sausages by Hot Diggity Dogs, and other great "curbside cuisine" will be provided by area restaurants and food trucks.
Ciders presented for sampling will be for sale under the Cider Tent, so you can take your favorite ciders home to enjoy!
Come "get your swig on!" - the Cider Swig Stage, sponsored by Tide's Tavern, will be ALIVE throughout the day with acoustic folk, country & blues by Sweet Mary; Gypsy-groove from Budapest West; sizzling twin fiddles by Spare Thyme; Creole la-la and Zydeco music by the "God Father of Fun" Richard Allen, and a rockin rollin finale by All Star Guitar Academy. And, new this year is the Apple Zone Stage, with Charlie the Noiseguy's Sound Safari and Pop Star Kids USA!
Presented by the Greater Gig Harbor Foundation's Parks & Environment CAB, the Cider Swig follows on the heels of National Public Lands Day activities in area parks (9am - noon). *Advance ticket purchase strongly encouraged - the event totally sold out in 2015.
Ticket price includes: 5 drink tokens, 6oz. festival glass, and access to live music, food, Cider Talk/Demonstration tent, 'Apple Launch Challenge', cider press demonstrations, the Orchard Gallery, and other activities. Additional cider tokens will be available at festival.
ID is required to enter the Cider Garden. Under 21 free entry (no Cider Garden access).

OTHER FESTIVAL HIGHLIGHTS
This is an accessible and family-fun event. The Kids Apple Zone will have a variety of games and activities for those under 21, cider demonstrations/talks/tips and more by area experts, and a drop-off for children under 12. Accessible pathways will be present to ensure all can participate in this community event.
Proceeds go to support environmental conservation, education, and local initiatives that include maintaining and expanding area parks and trails, and protecting agricultural and natural lands, and our greater Gig Harbor and Key peninsula region watershed.

Without people like you, the Festival could not happen. CIDER SWIG volunteers will receive reduced festival admission ($18), free festival t-shirt, commemorative festival glass, one $5 meal ticket ... and have a great time!
