Vajra Workshops presents The Wheel of the Year Series ~ Mabon ~ Fall Equinox
Join local reader, Seattle Weekly columnist, and musician Meagan Angus for another installment of her Wheel of the Year Series ~ Mabon the Fall Equinox. See the shifting from light to dark as we explore the many sides of this Solar-oriented timekeeping holiday, discover methods for working in a 'shifting' season, and learn ways to help yourself and your community prepare for the Underworld journey of Winter.
We will cover history of the holiday, alternate names, myths associated, comparison to other current holidays in other traditions, astrology, astronomy, goddesses, gods, archetypes, plants, planets, colors, crystals, oils, major themes, ritual elements, symbols and common forms of observance, how to create an altar, placement of the wheel of the year and how it fits into 'the big picture'.
This is an ongoing series focusing on the Wiccan Sabbats. The 8 Sabbats observed by the Witches are part of a grand tradition of seasonal celebration dictated by Solar and Lunar movements and celestial events, as well as the cycling of the seasons, shared by ancient and modern cultures around the world. Through participation in marking these moments we bring ourselves closer to the rhythms of nature that connect all people across the planet, we mark our place in our own process of life, and we see a common thread amongst the humanity that follow these great spiritual traditions.
