Homophobia Is Such A "DRAG"
To whom it may concern,
My name is Nick Moore-Perez I plan to host a large charity event "Homophobia is Such a DRAG" benefiting the Ruth Ellis Center. The Ruth Ellis Center is a youth social services agency with a mission to provide short-term and long-term residential safe space and support services for runaway, homeless, and at-risk lesbian, gay, bi-attractional, transgender and questioning (LGBTQ) youth.
This event started two years ago, when a neighbor approached me out of nowhere preaching hate. I was so angry at the thought of this individual trying to hurt me, it seemed so unwarranted. I decided to fight hate with love and turn things around, the event began. We welcome people dressed in drag, or costumes. I have had men come as women, women come as men, friends come as friends, and friends come as me.
I have hosted this event at my home the last two years. It has grown so much in size and so quickly, I don't have the capacity to host everyone.
To accommodate for the evolution of the event, We will be hosting it at Tricho Salon. This is located downtown, Royal Oak and is a 5,000 sq. ft urban chic venue; perfect for the event.
Homophobia is Such a DRAG will take place on Saturday, October 22, 2016 from 10:00-2:00. There will be local drag performers, bartenders, and a d.j. Donation comes with complimentary open bar!
Thank you,
Nick Moore-Perez & Ruth Ellis Center
