Silas House & Daniel Martin Moore Live @ The Raven House
Join us at the Raven House on September 16th for a reading from Silas House and music from Daniel Martin Moore.  Silas and Daniel will weave together of evening of literature and folk music like you have never heard before.  We are so lucky to have two of Kentucky's finest artists together on one night at The Raven House.

Daniel Martin Moore is an acclaimed singer-songwriter and producer who has released six albums.  After leaving the Peace Corp, Moore was signed to the storied Sub Pop Records label after sending them an unsolicited four-song demo.  That first album, Stray Age, appeared in 2008.  In 2010, Moore joined with fellow Kentucky musician Ben Sollee to record an album titled Dear Companion, which was produced by and featured Jim James of My Morning Jacket.  In 2011, Moore released a gospel album, In the Cool of the Day, and toured throughout the UK and Ireland with Iron and Wine.  Also in 2011, Moore founded the record label Ol Kentucky Recordings.  In 2012 Moore released Farthest Field, a duo project between Moore and Joan Shelley.  The new year his album Archives, Vol. 1 appeared.  His latest release, Golden Age, came out in 2015.  He is a native of Cold Spring, Kentucky.

Silas House is the nationally bestselling author of five novels, three plays, and one book of creative non-fiction, as well as a frequent contributor to The New York Times and Salon.  A former commentator for NPR's "All Things Considered," House currently hosts the popular radio show "Hillbilly Solid" on WUKY.  Known for his lyrical descriptions of nature and his meditations on the dignity of rural life, House has also become known for his activism in the fight for equality and environmental justice, which led to him being called "a folk hero" by ACE Weekly and several honors for his social justice work.  House is the NEH Chair of Appalachian Studies at Berea College and serves on the fiction faculty at Spalding University's MFA in Creative Writing. His latest novel, Same Sun Here, is one of the featured titles in President Obama's "Open Ebooks" campaign.  House is a native of Eastern Kentucky and now lives in Berea.  His new novel, Little Fire, will be published in Spring 2018.
