CEREMONY: The Fashion Ritual

CEREMONY is a theatrical fashion healing ritual utilizing poetry, music, dance, and costuming to highlight the life arc of Black and Brown women as they fight to access true destiny whilst residing in unjust life spaces. The heat of such a journey can render the spirit muted and wounded. We, CEREMONY, believe that trauma silenced chokes off the breath of passionate dreams and desires. CEREMONY seeks to be the ignitor of the voice released by: acknowledging the journey into trauma (Passage), bringing trauma to the surface (Hush Harbour), battling the  roots of trauma (Insurrection), providing a restorative blueprint (Reclamation), and offering wisdom for soul prosperity (The Rise). We believe that the power of "language" (words, movement, music, costuming), will ignite the impetus for the path to healing by providing a wisdom blueprint wrapped in the bonds of love. CEREMONY is relevant in a time where silence triggering beasts (ie human trafficking, gentrification) are running amok in Oakland. CEREMONY is soaked in the beautiful culture of the melanated feminine divine. We humbly recognize the infinite beauty and strength of The Melanated QUEENDOM.
