A Night Under The Stars
Charleston Montessori School, located in the heart of Charleston's urban West Side, is a creative community school providing Montessori education for children ages 3-12 years. Our curriculum is enhanced by specialists in music, art, foreign language, and physical education for children. Charleston Montessori is a member of the International Montessori Council (IMC) and West Side Main Street. Weare a 501(c)(3) educational institution, recognized by Kanawha County Schools and the West VirginiaDepartment of Education, and one of only two Montessori elementary schools in West Virginia. We go beyond the classroom and help students understand and be aware of their impact on the local area with our strong community service focus. Throughout the year we spend time at Edgewood Summit and partner with The Salvation Army Boys and Girls Club of Charleston, Pro-Kids, Inc. and Covenant House. We also complete many projects annually, including those related to the environment. We were recently recognized for collecting 1,500 pounds of difficult-to-recycle plastics through a TerraCycle plan, keeping those items out of our area landfills. We also work with the Habitat for Humanity Re-Store to gather latex paint for their recycling efforts. We fundraise annually in order to provide an authentic Montessori education, conduct our community service and continue three full, lifetime scholarships for children with financial need. This year, we are excited to present, A Night Under the Stars, which will be held at Edgewood Country Club on November 12, 2016. The gala will feature a live performance by two of West Virginias brightly shining musical stars: Landau Eugene Murphy and The Bob Thompson Band. We are securing sponsors for this event and have a variety of opportunities available.
