CONCERT 1: TOGETHER-AGAIN * Monday, October 10, 2016, 7:30PM * Carlos Alvarez Studio Theater, Tobin Center Tuesday, October 11, 2016, 7:30PM * Ruth Taylor Recital Hall, Trinity University
Renown flutist, Angela Jones-Reus and SOLI are TOGETHER-AGAIN! After a three-year absence Angela Jones-Reus will again join SOLI for their 2016-17 Season opener. TOGETHER-AGAIN is an exciting program that will feature virtuosic ensemble works by Sebastian Currier and Pierre Jalbert, as well as a for solo flute work by Ian Clarke and a whimsical duo for cello and piano by Lisa Bielawa. The Ensemble will also present the world premiere of the final work by William Thomas McKinley. McKinley, who passed away in the spring of 2015, was in the process of writing a new work for SOLIs 2017-18 season. Although he did not get a chance to complete this beautiful work we are so lucky to have the first two movements to premiere for our San Antonio audiences this season, honoring this highly creative and prolific composer.

CONCERT 2: MOZART FESTIVAL, THE LAND OF THE MAGIC FLUTE Tuesday, January 24, 2017, 7:30PM * Ruth Taylor Recital Hall, Trinity University
Part of the San Antonio Symphonys annual, month-long festival, celebrating the music of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Land of the Magic Flute will be another unique presentation befitting SOLIs creative and award winning programming. The Land of the Magic Flute is a graphic novel created by director Fons Schiedon in collaboration with composer Phillippe Lambert. This modern telling of the story from one of Mozarts most celebrated operas, The Magic Flute, combines contemporary drawings and animation with original music inspired by thematic materials from Mozarts own score. SOLI will directly collaborate with Lambert and Schiedon on the new version of the incidental music throughout the graphic novel as well as arrange and perform the seven, key Mozart arias featured in the graphic novel, which further define the characters in the story. This one-of-a-kind concert will truly be a unique experience for San Antonio audiences.
CONCERT 3: UNDER THE LIGURIAN SUN, Part II. Monday, May 15, 2017, 7:30PM * Barshop Jewish Community Center Tuesday, May 16, 2017, 7:30PM * Ruth Taylor Recital Hall, Trinity University
Closing program of SOLIs 2016-17 Season, Under the Ligurian Sun, Part II. will be a sneak peek of the repertoire of great American chamber music the ensemble is planning on taking on their first international tour to Europe later that month. Last season, on Under the Ligurian Sun, Part I., the ensemble presented several works from their extensive repertoire under consideration for the tour and this year we will feature three new works by young composers Viet Cuong, Michael Gilbertson, and Dan Visconti to add to that list. The program will also feature a 2015 SOLI commission by composer Pierre Jalbert, and the world premiere of a new work for SOLI by L.A. based composer Miguel del Aguila.
