William Shakespeare's A Midsummer's Night Dream a la Moderne
Maize South Theatre proudly presents William Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream in modern English featuring guest artists Maize South High English teacher and Kansas teacher of the year nominee Mark Bradshaw (Theseus), Wichita State University theatre major Mazi Monfared (Demetrius), and Midwest Dance Mechanix corp de ballet (fairies). The cast also includes MSHS seniors Katherine Donaghue (Hermia), Brandon Lies (Lysander), Taylor Rasmussen (Helena), Serena Rodriguez (Hippolyta); juniors Natalie Bliss (Titania), Maizey Edgar (Puck), Hannah Hendricks (Bottom), Cassandra Ketcham (Quince), Manasseh Ketner (Starveling); sophomores Austin Vaughn (Oberon), Kamiar Monfared (Egeus), Chloe Woolbright (Flute), Ainsley Sucher (Snug), Nicholas Spenst (Philostrate); freshmen Alyza Heeb (Snout) and Arianna Toews (Fairy); Maize Central Elementary's Ruven Funschelle (Titania's "son"); and furry friend D-o-g.
Under the creative leadership of student director and stage manager Kimiya Monfared, the cast has not only worked all summer rehearsing but doubled as crew to build the set. We are especially blessed to have lights and sound designed by professional artist Jeff Huhman and choreography by Midwest Dance Mechanix owner, professional dancer, and teacher Jana Owen.
We are delighted to have labored all summer to provide you, your family, and friends with this beautiful, modern Midsummer Night's Dream full of fun, frivolity and fairies.
