Anais Mitchell
Her voice is soft and sweet, her guitar work deft and evocative, but Anais Mitchell is a songwriting storyteller first and foremost. Robbed of her gift for melody and poetry, Mitchell would probably write some tremendous novels.
Anais is a fearless artist whose songwriting has drawn in the likes of Greg Brown, Ani DiFranco (who signed her to her record label, Righteous Babe Records), Bon Iver, The Low Anthem, Richard Thompson and more.
Her haunting voice, her incredible writing and her willingness to follow her own lead have made her an inspiration to a new generation of writers already.
Hailing from Vermont and described as the Queen of Folk by The Telegraph, Anais Mitchells albums have received Best Of ranking from NPR, the Guardian, Sunday Times, and two BBC Radio Folk Awards.
Her stage production of Hadestown, which was ten years in the making, opened Off-Broadway in May 2016 to rave reviews. The New York Times called it inventive, beguiling and spellbinding while Vogue announced that Hadestown will be your new theater obsession. The show was extended twice as a result of critical success and sell-out performances.
