The Sixties Band
The 60's Band formed in 2010 when Kerry Keene and Dave Messinger from The Zeatles (a local Beatles tribute band) joined up with Catherine Glaude and Terry Pickett from The Calypso Cowboys ( a Maine based Jimmy Buffett style band) with the idea of forming a band that performs only songs from that decade. From the beginning, the band focused on the iconic and most danceable music, and it has gained quite a following since for their now famous "sixties dance parties". It is quite typical these days for dancers to get up on the first song of the night and still be up for the last. The band is a monthly favorite at the Baha Brothers - Sandbar Grill in Taunton, Massachusetts playing for a full house each time.
In more recent years, the band added the gorgeous voice of Kelly Cleveland on lead vocals, and Derek Escher on lead guitar and vocals, both coming from the Providence area Americana band - Red Eye Flight. As a six - piece band, the group performs many of the complex vocal harmonies from the golden era of rock and roll including the Beatles, Motown, and girl groups, and has become known for nailing the signature sounds and licks of the music while making it fresh and energizing.
The 60's Band is more than a nostalgia act injecting personality, fun and life into the songs. While making sure the critical parts are performed, the band is acutely aware that music is more than playing notes. At a 60's show, you will become absorbed into the authentic feel for this classic music selection - complete with outlandish attire, bell-bottoms, boas, and beads. And let's not forget the tie dye and peace signs too!
It doesn't matter how old you are - if you are a fan of great music lyrics and melodies, and you enjoy having a great time dancing - this is the perfect night out for you. So throw on a tie dyed tee shirt and your dancing shoes, and take a trip back to the golden era of rock and roll music with the 60's.
