From Micro-Aggression to Equity
Wording about co-sponsorship by DCTC and by F&CS with wording about HR credits
Micro-aggressions are brief and commonplace acts that communicate hostility, insults or demeaning slights.
These can be verbal, behavioral, or environmental indignities and are often performed unconsciously.
Most micro-aggressions are rooted in socially shared prejudices and perceptions about race, gender, sexual orientation, disability, class and other identity differences.
This workshop focuses on challenging micro-aggressions in everyday workplace environments in order to build greater equity and inclusivity. The focus is on: Raising employees' consciousness about the harms people experience through everyday micro-aggressions Sharing in the responsibility for changing micro-aggressive work environments rather than assigning blame to specific individuals Understanding the benefits of creating micro-affirming workplaces that value and cultivate people's strengths
