Hanneke Cassel with Mike Block
Spend a Fall evening listening to some excellent music from Hanneke Cassel and Mike Block. Cassel (Fiddle) and Block (Cello) (from Boston, Massachusetts) have been playing music together since 2007.
To add to the evening, hors d'oeuvres and wine (age verification required) will be served. Non-alcoholic options available too.

About the musicians:
Hanneke Cassel is an American folk violinist. She was raised in Oregon and graduated with a Bachelor of Music in Violin Performance at Berklee College of Music (Boston, Massachusetts). She was the U.S. National Scottish Fiddle Champion in 1997 and has produced 8 albums and is currently working on a 9th. She has taught and performed across North America, Europe, New Zealand, Australia, China and India.
She teaches regularly at Alasdair Fraser's Valley of the Moon and Sierra Fiddle Camps, the Mike Block String Camp, Harald Haugaard's International Fiddle School and the Boston Harbor Scottish Fiddle School.
Hanneke is an active member of Boston-based band Childsplay (featuring 20+ fiddles made by Bob Childs) and also participates with a musical group called (Southern Hemisphere International School for Scottish Fiddle, SHISSF for short.)
Her music possesses influences from the Isle of Skye (Scotland) and Cape Breton Island (Canada) that fuse together with grooves and musical innovations from the hip Boston bluegrass / Americana scene to give Hanneke a uniquely American approach to Scottish music. She creates sounds on the cutting edge of acoustic music, while retaining the integrity and soul of the tradition.
Mike Block is an American cellist, singer, composer, arranger and solo artist. Mike has earned a Masters Degree from the Juilliard School (New York City), where he studied with Darret Adkins and Joel Krosnick. Additionally, he has collaborated with Yo-Yo Ma, Bobby McFerrin, Lenny Kravitz, Shakira, Alison Krauss and other notable musicians.
In 2009, Block founded The Mike Block String Camp, which takes place in Vero Beach, Florida and in 2012, he started the Brooklyn Pop String Camp in NYC which aims to nurture young childrens' passion for playing music.
To name just a few, he has performed on Late Night with Conan O'Brian, "Regis and Kelly", NBC's 30 Rock, The Disney Channel and the CBS Early Show.
And lastly, Mike Block currently plays with the Silk Road Ensemble which is a group that seeks to connect the world through the arts, musical performance, learning programs and cultural entrepreneurship.
