Giving Up Is Hard To Do, Written and Performed by Annie Abbott
Based upon her fascinating life both onstage and off, award-winning veteran Broadway, television, and film actress Annie Abbott's one-woman show Giving Up Is Hard To Do is a very funny, energetic celebration of searching for answers and unexpectedly finding oneself. The show is directed by Joel Zwick (My Big Fat Greek Wedding).
Suddenly widowed at middle age, our storyteller grapples with the horrors of searching for a new partner online, and proceeds to tumble down the rabbit hole, coffee date by coffee date. These salty encounters include a doddering elderly hopeful with more use for a live-in nurse than a date, as well as a smug respondent with inordinate pride in his below-the-waist endowment. Trying to find her way through life's turbulence, our storyteller looks for wisdom from disparate sources (and becomes) a stranger on a plane, a bitter dating "expert", an eccentric plastic surgeon, her beloved deceased immigrant grandmother, and even an imaginary Judge Judy. The performance brings Annie's past vividly to life, and connects it seamlessly into her present.
Abbott's recent TV credits include "Perception", Disney's "I Didn't Do It", and "Californication." She had a 10-year recurring role as the irreverent Judge Janice Neiman on "L.A. Law."
