Amy Engelhardt: My Own Devices
CHAMELEON THEATER
800 W. PARK AVE., PORT TOWNSEND

Former female spitfire of Seattle Grammy Noms THE BOBS
Direct from the New Old Time Chautauqua tour!

Award-winning vocalist, songwriter and comedienne Amy Engelhardt returns to the Olympic Peninsula with her solo show at Port Townsend's Chameleon Theater.

The sole female member of Seattle-based Grammy-nominated quartet THE BOBS from 1998-2011, Engelhardt will be stepping out of a New Old Time Chautauqua tour with the Flying Karamazov Brothers in order to visit Port Townsend, "One of my favorite towns in the tall, tall, dark green and beautiful Northwest." MY OWN DEVICES is a collection of songs by turns poignant, pithy and downright goofy from her upcoming CD of the same name, choice eclectic covers (including pieces she wrote for The Bobs), and selections from her award-winning debut, NOT GONNA BE PRETTY ("A rare and intelligent edge in wordsmithery..." - Metroland Magazine).

Her insanely diverse vocal credits include the soundtracks for JURASSIC WORLD, DAWN OF THE PLANET OF THE APES and JIM HENSON'S ANIMAL JAM, Harry Shearer & Judith Owen's Holiday Show (2005-2015 tours and Disney Concert Hall), Barbra Streisand's TIMELESS, the LA Bach Festival and Neil Young's LIVING WITH WAR.

Amy's first love was the theater, and her cheeky score for BASTARD JONES was a Finalist for the Richard Rodgers Award, the Eugene O'Neill Musical Theater Conference and the Alec Baldwin Fellowship (the strangest trifecta ever). In Seattle, she wrote lyrics and vocal arrangements for commissioned adaptations of Carl Sagan's CONTACT (2009 Puget Sound Theatre Award: Best New Play) and Nicholas Nickleby (Center Stage), and music and lyrics for A COMEDY OF ERAS at ACT (with the Flying Karamazov Brothers).

Although she splits her time between Los Angeles and New York, Amy can't wait to spend summer weeks in the Pacific Northwest ("where I live in my mind," she says), recently emceed the opening weekend of Seattle's Moisture Festival, and would love to sit in a coffee house with you for hours as the fog rolls in.

"After hearing a chunk of Engelhardt's songbook, its understandable why she gets kudos. She brings a comediennes sensibility to her lyrics (as well as to her singing and performing), which can be poignant, provocative and playful all in the same song her elastic, three-octave, mezzo soprano can almost get lost in the shuffle." - Cabaret Scenes

"Riotously funny...Engelhardt delights in language...clever and poignant." - BroadwayWorld
