**UPDATE 9/4/2016*** This event is sold out. Contact Sonoma County Regional Parks Foundation to be placed on a waiting list: susan.bryer-shelton@sonoma-county.org or call (707)565-3190. Thank you for your interest in this unique Regional Parks Foundation experience.
This is a very special opportunity to experience the gorgeous landscape and views of Tolay Lake Regional Park and to access pristine property that has been in the Donnell and Lilly families for over 75 years. While Tolay is open to the public by permit on weekends, the Donnell/Lilly property is private and not otherwise accessible to the public.
The day starts at 8:30 AM Sunday, Oct. 30, 2016. Hikers will meet at Gloria Ferrer Caves and Vineyards, 23555 Highway 121, Sonoma, pick up lunches provided by Sonoma Market, and board a chartered bus to Tolay Lake Regional Park in Petaluma.
The hike from Tolay Lake to Gloria Ferrer is about 5 miles. It is moderate but involves some off-trail hiking. The pace is leisurely.
When we arrive at Tolay, we will meet the Sonoma County Regional Parks rangers who will lead our hike, and Nancy and Tony Lilly, park neighbors. At our lunch break along the trail, our park rangers will give a short talk about the history, current status, and future plans for Tolay. Later, Nancy and Tony will tell us about the history of their land and the crops grown there.
We expect to arrive at Gloria Ferrer around 3:00 PM for appetizers and champagne.
Essentials: a backpack, water bottle, insect repellent, sun screen, hat, and good hiking shoes.
This event will benefit the Sonoma County Regional Parks Foundation and the Sonoma Valley Hospital Foundation. Proceeds will benefit county parks in the 2nd Supervisorial District, including Helen Putnam to match a generous challenge grant opportunity from an anonymous donor.
We are grateful to Gloria Ferrer Caves and Vineyards, Nancy and Tony Lilly, Sonoma Market, Parks and Recreation Advisory Commissioner Karen Collins, and California Wine Tours for their support in creating this event.
Rain date November 6.
By purchasing these tickets, you agree to indemnify, defend and hold harmless the Sonoma County Regional Parks Foundation, the property owner, the event organizers, and their officers, employees and volunteers from any actions, claims, damages, suits or expenses that may be brought as a result of participation in this event.
