Open Call For Artists: Redux: Everything Old is New Again

Redux: Everything Old is New Again
Open Call for artwork that has been created from recycled materials, and/or artwork that conceptually explores the theme of recycling

The Dehn Gallery at MCC on Main invites artists to submit work for a Winter exhibition.

Eligibility:
This is an open call for primarily two-dimensional artists who are at least 15 years of age.
All work must be original and by the submitting artist.
Media accepted: Photography, mixed media, drawings, paintings, books, collages, prints, relief sculptures that hang on the wall, fashion designs (Space is limited for 3-Dimensional work.)
Size should not exceed 4ft x 6ft in any direction.
Work must be ready to hang.
All work must be available for sale (70% to artist, 30% commission to Dehn Gallery to benefit arts programming)

Prizes:
First Place: $200 (cash)
Second Place: $150 (cash)
Third Place: $100 (cash)
Local Hero (CT artists only): $100

Jurors:
Kristina Scott Newman, Director of Culture, State of Connecticut
Amy Merli, Founder of Trashion Fashion
Jane Rainwater, Curator of the Dehn Gallery

Judging Criteria: Originality and interpretation of theme, quality, demonstration of ability, and usage of medium. Images should be clear and in focus - this represents your work and it will be displayed/judged the same way it is received. Submitted images should not have any borders or watermarks.

Entry Fee: $30 for up to three images maximum.

Submit by midnight, October 3, 2016

Format the jpegs as 300dpi, maximum 1.000px in any dimension, not to exceed 2MB, one image per piece, no detail shots.
Name the files as shown: lastnamefirstinitial001.jpg, (example: smithJ001.jpg) second image, 002, third 003. We cannot accept slides or CDs. Unpaid or incorrectly formatted entries will not be considered.

Key Dates:
Submission Deadline:        October 3, 2016, midnight
Winners notified by email:October 11, 2016
Accepted work to the gallery on:Sunday, October 23, 2016.
       (We are unable to cover shipping costs)
Dates of Exhibition:October 25-January 6
Exhibition Opening Reception:Friday, October 28, 2016, 6:00-8:00pm
PICK Up Date                January 6. Please do not enter if you are unable to
                                                               drop off/pick up your work on the specified date.

Liability
Shipping to and from the gallery is the responsibility of the artist. Accepted artwork will be insured for the sale price while in the Dehn Gallery. Insurance for Artwork in transit is the responsibility of the artist.
