Drumetry Album Release Event
Join Drum Dr. Dot! as she celebrates the release of her album, Drumetry: Medicinal Music on a Mission! The music is the medicine; its mission is to heal.
Along with Drum Dr. Dot! is Roses n Rust, a Baltimore-based band that blends classic and contemporary rock, pop and country covers with a soul and sensibility, sultry singer-songwriter,producer, music engineer, Nyerre Love, performing some of her original music and covers, and Nyame Nti Cultural Healing Arts Therapy (N-CHAT), an African drumming and dance group who will FIRE FIYAH up the evening!
Dr. Dorothy Adamson Holley, aka Drum Dr. Dot!, is a Developmental Psychologist and a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who integrates mental health and the arts to promote healing. Drumetry is an outgrowth of such integration. Drumetry opens us to healing at many levels, and its themes include love, forgiveness, peace, freedom, wholeness, and cultural pride.
I began writing poetry while in a state of deep emotional pain. Through poetic expression I began to experience the healing of my deepest emotional wounds. When I added the ancient, sacred practice of African drumming, my poetry came to life!
Birthing Drumetry was an exercise in freedom, and it can be likened to the Hero's Journey: to live through pain, be transformed by it, and to share the gifts and wisdom with others. Drumetry is my gift to you. Unwrap & enjoy!
