After their last sold-out concert at (le) Poisson Rouge in 2013, the Hector Del Curto Tango Quintet makes their highly anticipated appearance in New York City on July 22 at The National Opera Centers Marc A. Scorca Hall.
In this concert, Hector Del Curto honors the music of Astor Piazzolla: "My relationship with Piazzolla's music had a long journey," he explains. "My father, Luis, is a tango traditionalist" and did not accept New Tango. "It was not until the age of 17, when I performed with the Astor Piazzolla Sextet and the Osvaldo Pugliese Orchestra at the Royal Theatre Carre in Amsterdam, that his music emerged in my musical life." Praised by The New York Times as a "splendid player," Hector Del Curto has appeared with prestigious orchestras such as Metropolitan Opera Orchestra, St. Louis Symphony Orchestra, National Symphony Orchestra, Orpheus Chamber Orchestra and Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra. www,hectordelcurto.com
