The Victorians: Literary Representations of a Changing Society
The Victorian era was one of great change, ushering Great Britain toward Modernism. These writers, along with the celebrated Charles Dickens, represented this changing world in their novels. Their use of realistic characters, masterful plotting and varied settings illustrate for readers the reforms in the church, in politics and in society.
Please join Literary Affairs and Professor Charles Lynn Batten as we explore these four great Victorian novels. All of these discussions begin at 10:30am at the Hotel Bel-Air, and include a delicious continental breakfast.
