Return to the Cold: Lagers and Cheese in the Historic Crown Finish Caves
Return to Cold: Lagers and Cheese in the Historic Crown Finish Caves
Let's face it: Summer in New York City is a real stinker, humidity and heat a wet blanket on fun. That's why this afternoon we're descending 30 feet underground, to the cold confines of Crown Finish Caves. Here in the 1850s brewery's subterranean tunnels, where lagers were once aged, the weather stays 50 degrees year-round. Its the perfect temperature for slipping on a sweater and sipping a beer. Or four.
This afternoon, we're inviting three of the regions best breweries to pour lagers and pilsners, paired with cheese aged in these very same caves. You'll be drinking beers from Long Island's Barrier, Massachusetts all-lager Jack's Abby and Keg & Lantern, the best Brooklyn brewpub you havent heard of yet.
They'll be served with a selection of cave aged cheeses, as well as conversations with the brewers and Crown Finish Caves affineurs (translation: the folks that skillfully age the cheese). Your host is beer expert Joshua M. Bernstein, author of The Complete Beer Course.
It's a frosty rebuttal to summer, set in the coolest location in town. Space is limited to 60 tickets.
