SHINKA
SHINKA explores the mystery of living beings. Mankind has developed society rapidly. Where are we going? What do we want? Fear for death, hope for life; anger, jealousy, grudges, ambition, dream and love. Why do we fight? We are all part of this eco-system; we are one. We are an aggregate of conscious energy, evolving every single day, every single moment, together. And yet we struggles suffer, create, and destroy. By using Japanese Butoh, Trish Arnold Movement, contemporary dance and other theatrical elements, we explore our organic movement from our souls to express life itself physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually through SHINKA.

SHINAK is a Japanese word. The meanings change depending on the characters you choose. The meanings include Evolution, Truth, Deepening, Fire in your heart (Anger, Jealousy, grudge, passion), Holy fire, Holy song, and Divinity.

-Ren Gyo Soh-  is a multi-award winning New York-based theatre group. It was founded by a Japanese artist, Yokko in 2014.  It produces her work with collaborators, such as writers, directors, choreographers, dancers, actors, lighting designers, costume designers, composers, musicians, and painters by using  Butoh, contemporary dance, Movement, Acting, Yoga, and Voice.  It offers seasonal workshops. (4 times / year)

Ren Gyo Sohs prior company was JPAC (Japanese Performing Arts Company), which she founded in Oregon in 2008, and performed her first work, Blue Sky -there is a will; there is a way- combining Japanese Classical Dance, Japanese Stage Combat, Contemporary Dance and Drama. Yokko taught company members, and also held many workshops for local communities in order to share Japanese culture. She received the "International Understanding Award" through JPAC's work in 2008. During 2011-2012 she performed for NICODA, and presented her solo dance piece, Hope from the chaos, and duo dance piece KIZUNA - connection-. (Reviewed by Daily News)

Yokko created her own group, KAI (A Japanese word, group) to broaden her training, and create a new work to share by collaborating with other artists. She named her Kai, Ren Gyo Soh and held the opening ceremony in April 12th at ABC Sanctuary, NYC.
