La Destreza; The Mystery of Spanish Swordplay
What is the mystery of Spanish Swordplay (La Destreza)? For nearly four hundred years the system of La Destreza was feared as one of the deadliest forms of European swordsmanship but today its methods are a mystery. This hands on seminar will explore forgotten underlying techniques and the hidden concepts of La Destreza as they apply to the single rapier. The seminar is lead by William Christy a U.S.F.A. certified instructor, who has coached competitive fencers, choreographed theatrical fights and taught historical combat, with over 25 years experience. The two day event is hosted at The Art Sword and Chivalry located at 12445 E. 39th Ave Bldg. A Ste 509 Denver CO, 80239. The seminar is divided into two sessions Saturday and Sunday 8/20/16 and 8/21/16 from 3:00pm to 6:00pm both days. Attendees will need to bring their own Rapier, Fencing Jacket, Mask and Gloves as well as any other protective equipment. Space is limited to twenty students, early reservations are advised.
