About Dixie Lee Mills Dixie jumped into comedy this year with a one-hour show, Adolescence 2.0. Yes, its in an unusual entrance to comedy. It just happened. After enduring a 20-year marriage, Dixie experimented with internet dating for 8 months, and well, you just cant make this stuff up.
Adolescence 2.0 premiered in 2016 in Santa Cruz at Center Stage and Motion Pacific (excerpt), and also in San Francisco at The Marsh Theater (excerpts). It will be presented in the Capital Fringe Festival on July 15-17 at the Argonaut in Washington DC.
Dixie has actually been performing her entire life. Here are some selected highlights in no particular order:
*Earned an M.F.A. in Dance Performance and Choreography from the University of Colorado, Boulder in the 90s (it was 1990 to be precise, but I prefer to be general and say the 90s because then I could appear as much as 9 years younger)
*Produced and directed the Santa Cruz Fringe Festivals in 2012, 2013 and 2014
*Received three 4-star reviews when she performed in the Edinburgh Fringe, the granddaddy of all Fringes, in 2004 while 6 months pregnant and naked
*Created many wacky dance/theater/spectacle projects over the years in NYC, Seattle, Santa Cruz, Boulder and moreprojects like The Lonely, Post-Modern, Artsy-Fartsy Peep Show and The Thinnest Woman with the Fewest Wrinkles Wins (appearing respectively at Tribeca Cinemas and Joyce Soho in NYC)
*Won the title of Miss Majorette of America and got to perform for thousands with James Brown at a Hall of Fame Bowl halftime show (back in the 80s!)
