LE SON DU VERRE II
Imagine the sight and sound of a selection of music - Classical and Contemporary - performed on violin, cello, guitar, viola, bass guitar, xylophone...All made entirely of fused glass!
Seattle glass artist, Gary Word, premiered the first generation of these remarkable, elegant sculptural instruments in an inaugural performance, "Le Son du Verre" (Music From Glass), played by some of Seattle's most accomplished musicians, in May 2014, at FREDERICK HOLMES AND COMPANY - GALLERY OF MODERN & CONTEMPORARY ART to a packed, enthusiastic audience!
Now, with the collaboration of several professional musicians, Gary has refined the technology, fabrication, and sound of these "next generation" instruments. (A recent rock performance of one of his electric guitars at the Tacoma Glass Museum blew away the audience!)
In conjunction with our June Exhibition, "OBFUSCATION", (a co-production with The Kirkland Arts Center) featuring three contemporary painters, Anna Macrae, Susan Derrick, and Flora Ramirez Bustamante, "exploring the layering of meaning", we're proud to present the second public performance of Gary Words fantastic creations: Le Son du Verre II", featuring select Seattle musicians, with music that also explores hidden meaning and subtext, chosen by Music Director, Jonathan Graber.
Seating is limited for everyone's comfort and enjoyment. Wines and refreshments will be available for our guests.
