Transient Canvas + Patchwork
Transient Canvas rounds out their 5th season with a double-header full of fresh new voices for the Boston musical scene. TCs set features five new pieces written specifically for them by the San Francisco-based Guerrilla Composers Guild. Showcasing the variety of sounds coming out of the Bay Area, the program combines avant-minimalism and lyrical spectralism with iPhone-induced meditation. A highlight of the program is Crystal Pascuccis resonance imaging which transcribes the sounds of an MRI machine and acts as a personal commentary on living with a terminal illness.
In their Greater Boston debut, Patchwork presents a set of pieces written specifically for them that explores and expands the sonic possibilities of the saxophone and drum set. A highlight of their program is the expansive Axiom Folio by Eric Wubbels, current visiting assistant professor of music at Amherst College.
Transient Canvas is: Amy Advocat, bass clarinet; Matt Sharrock, marimba
Patchwork is: Noa Even, saxophones; Stephen Klunk, drum set
