November 11-14, in Seattle Washington
Join us for Dare To Be Square West in Seattle! A long weekend of square dancing, music, and friendly folks, brought to you by the Seattle Subversive Square Dance Society and the Seattle Folklore Society. Here's what you can expect:
Friday: folks gather from all points of the compass, with a participants dance Friday evening at our main venue, the Fremont Abbey. We'll kick off the weekend right with square dancing, hot tunes from Seattle old time musicians, and a chance to meet this year's staff and other participants.
Saturday: a full day of workshops and dancing! Learn how to call dances, how to get a dance scene started, how to improve your own dancing. Pick up some tips and tricks for playing in a dance band, and jam knee to knee in a broom closet. We'll break for dinner, and encourage folks to explore the countless local restaurants near the Fremont Abbey venue before returning for a night of square dancing, open to the public.
Sunday: more workshops, more fun! We'll move to the nearby Ballard neighborhood for Sunday's activities, in the lovely Leif Erikson Lodge. Expect the opportunity to practice what you've learned, and to go even deeper into workshop topics. We'll end the day with a catered dinner for participants.
Monday: we'll host a brunch for those still in town, and see you at the Tractor Tavern Monday Night Square Dance, Seattle's red-hot square dance scene.
