UC Master Gardeners of Monterey Bay present "The Joy of Gardening", a series of classes on all things gardening. Choose 3 classes from our exciting list of 18 topics for your information-packed day of learning. Enjoy complementary welcome treats, lunch options, plant sale, and the beautiful view of the Monterey Bay from Cabrillo College Horticulture Facility located on the top of the hill.
Many of our classes address water conservation in the home landscape from irrigation to plant selection to lawn replacement with native plants. Learn from our expert teachers and speakers on topics including Succulents in the Landscape by Robin Stockwell, Tree Care and Pruning and Selection and Maintenance of Garden Tools by Peter Quintinilla, "Microclimates in the Monterey Bay Region" with Cabrillo College's Meteorology Department Chair Dierdre Scholar, three classes teaching plant propagation by seeds, cutting, and division by Nicki Hughes and join the UC Master Food Preservers for their seminar on Preserving the Harvest-All Things Pickled. Also this year we have classes on roses, lavenders, citrus and fruit trees for your garden landscape. Detailed class descriptions can be found at http://mbmg.ucanr.edu/boot_camp_2016.
Registration is from at 8:00am to 9:00am with coffee and a lovely breakfast buffet. Opening ceremonies begin at 9:00 in the main auditorium. Session one classes begin at 9:30am; Session 2 classes at 11:15am; Session 3 classes at 2:00pm. Be sure to choose one class from each Session!
Lunch will be 1 hour, with our local Santa Cruz, Cruz N' Gourmet food truck option or bring your own--out door dining at the "top of the hill". Dont miss the opportunity to shop for top quality plants from the Cabrillo Horticulture Department during lunch and after the last class.
