This summer, the Santa Barbara Centre for Aerial Dance approaches the art of the creative process in a ground-breaking, multi-faceted, conceptually driven journey from inspiration to presentation. Empowering participants to explore the intangible while utilizing the city's artistic resources, students will learn how to tap into cellular responses to visual, tactile, and sensorial contexts, extracting creative inspiration for the development of a full-length dance production to share with the Santa Barbara community.
Thru a series of filed trips, artist discussions, community meals, technique and choreography-based workshops, and developmental exercises, artists are encouraged to spread their inventive wings and find confidence in their wholly unique creative voices, while discovering a newfound appreciation for the bountiful inspiration the city has to offer.
This four-week pedagogy is open to intermediate/advanced aerial dancers for the following dates:
YOUTH SESSION:
Meets Monday thru Thursday (and one Saturday)
Tuesday, July 5- Saturday, July 30 9:00am-1:00pm
Dress/Tech Rehearsal: Saturday, July 30
Stage Performance: Saturday, July 30
All Inclusive Fees: $1100*
*Includes all skill and technical classes, museum outings, theatrical performances, supplies, equipment, shared meals, thematic special events, and field trips.
ADULT SESSION:
Pedagogy meets Mondays and Wednesdays*(and one Saturday)
*Optional Technique classes on Tuesdays/Thursdays are included in your fee
Wednesday, July 6- Saturday, July 30 5:00pm-8:00pm
Dress/Tech Rehearsal: Saturday, July 30
Stage Performance: Saturday, July 30
All Inclusive Fees: $600*
*Includes all skill and technical classes, museum outings, theatrical performances, supplies, equipment,shared meals, thematic special events, and field trips.
A 50% deposit is required to reserve your space, with the remaining balance due on the first day of pedagogy.
