Dialogues with Memory
With this title, Enrique Estuardo evokes the high degree of aesthetic abstraction of the pre-Hispanic cultures that settled in what is now Ecuador. Utilizing mixed media, gold leaf, oil and acrylic paint, the artist combines a variety of elements to create a visual dialogue of time and memory, which can have many interpretations. The concepts Enrique Estuardo explores in his work are genetic memory and the destruction and reinterpretation of historical and archeological testimony.
Enrique Estuardo
Enrique Estuardo was born in1964 in Salcedo, Ecuador. He earned a Bachelors degree in Architecture from Ecuadors Central University and a Masters Degree in Visual Arts from the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de Mexico (UNAM). He has received a variety of awards for his artistic work, including: the National Congress of Ecuadors Dr. Vicente Rocafuerte Gold Medal for artistic merit, the Pollock-Krasner Foundation Grant in New York, the first prize in the second exhibition of Ibero-American art from the Northeast Hispanic Catholic Center of New York City, and the National Young Art Prize from the Secretary of Culture in Mexico, among others. He has participated in multiple international exhibitions and his work has been published in more than ten anthologies of Ecuadorian art.

Juan Carlos Ortega (Ecuador) and Sekyeong Seong (Korea) present a recital for violin and piano with works by Beethoven, Massenet, and Salgado. They will also be performing arrangements of Latin American music for violin and piano.
Juan Carlos Ortega, violin
Juan Carlos Ortega started his violin studies in his native city Quito, Ecuador under the guidance of violinist Gustavo Guíñez. In the U.S., he studied with professors Peter McHugh, Patrick Rafferty, and Kia-Hui Tan. He holds bachelor's and master's degrees from the University of Louisville, and a DMA from The Ohio State University. Juan Carlos is on faculty at Mt. Vernon Nazarene University and the Jefferson Academy of Music in Columbus, OH. He also serves as concertmaster of the McConnell Arts Center Chamber Orchestra.
Sekyeong Seong, piano
Sekyeong Seong has been recognized as an exceptional educator, solo/collaborative pianist, and scholar in Korea and the U.S. She received Master's and Doctoral degrees in Piano Performance from The Ohio State University. Her engagements as staff accompanist include the Wind Symphony, Symphony Orchestra, and the Department of Theatre & Dance at The Ohio State University, as well as engagements with Ohio Wesleyan University, and the Choral Art Society. Sekyeong currently serves as principal accompanist for Columbus Womens Chorus.
