(IN)VISIBLE: Stories For Change
Doors open at 6:00; show starts at 6:30.
This event aims to bring New Yorkers together to hear stories about helping each other.
Our evening, titled (IN)VISIBLE, was designed by a small and motivated group of students at The United Nations International School, and intends to raise funds to support the work of organizations that combat the homeless crisis in our city.
At the intersection of storytelling and service is an opportunity to make the invisible people in our city become visible. Through stories around the theme of "help," supported by research we have conducted this year, we intend to illuminate how our community can make a difference, first by acknowledging the numerous ways we have been helped by our communities in the past, or have helped others. This is the first step in a sustained effort to get into the community and be advocates for the voiceless and agents of change.
This event will feature diverse and local voices telling true personal stories: teenagers, professional storytellers, teachers, and Moth story slam winners. Among our lineup are: Joe Charnitski, Paul Curtis, Kate Payne, Aquil-li Ruiz Comelas, Master Lee, and Asim Fareed.
100% of the proceeds from ticket sales, snacks, and an on-site raffle, will go toward supporting the work of organizations that actively work to end homelessness in NYC.
This is an all-ages venue: content and language will be appropriate for the audience.
