Event
Jenkins, Jazz & Jammin' II
You don't want to miss this special event! Join us on Saturday, June 11, from 4 pm to 8 pm on the beautiful and historic campus of Jenkins Institute, 3923 Azalea Drive, North Charleston, South Carolina. Situated on the Ashley River, the campus is the best spot for a cool evening of soulful sounds led by a special guest, Tuffus Zimbabwe, keyboardist for "Saturday Night Live," and the great-grandson of Rev. Daniel Joseph Jenkins, the founder and visionary behind America's first orphanage for Black children and the legendary Jenkins Orphanage Band, which played a fundamental role in the development of modern jazz and is featured in one of America's favorite operas, Porgy and Bess.
Tuffus will be joined by many local Charleston favorites. If you love jazz, Charleston is where you need to be! Bring your lawn chair or blanket; food vendors will be available as well as beer and wine. Tuffus Zimbabwe is coming to Charleston to play on the historic campus founded by his great-grandfather. It's going to be an awesome and very memorable night. Make plans to join us for Jenkins, Jazz & Jammin' II. Cost: $25.00
