CHESS The Musical In Concert
The Teaneck Community Chorus presents a new production: a concert version of CHESS, a musical that premiered in London in 1986 and on Broadway in 1988. This musical, with book and lyrics by Tim Rice and music by Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus of ABBA, tells the story of a championship chess tournament between American and Soviet chess Grandmasters. The production will highlight the intense Cold War rivalry between the two - one Russian, one American - against the pulse of a monumental rock score. The game of chess is used as a metaphor for romantic rivalries and the East-West political intrigue during the cold war.
The production features numerous guest artists and instrumentalists.
