Something Inside Is Broken
A courageous story of the Nisenan Tribe of Northern California, through the frontier of Sutters reign on the Sacramento Valley. This story is based on facts that occurred between 1846 and 1848 while California was being wrested from Mexico by America and Johann Sutter's fort was the gateway to the new frontier. It touches on Captain Fremont's duty to uphold manifest destiny per President Polk's desire to extend the United States border, with Kit Carson, the famous Indian killer, as Fremont's right hand man, carrying out his civic duties as an officer for the US army. This story doesn't candy coat any part of history and through song, dance and action displays Sutter's treatment of the Nisenan Indians, portraying him in a light that is seldom seen in public school history books. The comedic relief occurs during a few scenes throughout the musical called "Frontier Idol" where Governor Burnett acts as the Master of Ceremonies and facilitates the sarcastic humor of the policies placed on the California natives at the beginning of Statehood.
The show is approximately 2 hours in length.
