Megan Metheney and Rebekah West in concert at Star House
DIRECTIONS TO STAR HOUSE:
The Star House is located close to downtown Boulder in beautiful Sunshine Canyon. From the corner of 4th and Mapleton (where you can often find other carpoolers), continue westward up Sunshine Canyon (Mapleton turns into Sunshine Canyon just west of 4th) for 3.5 miles. You will see a dirt driveway on your right with several mailboxes at 3476 Sunshine Canyon and a sign for Star House. Proceed up this driveway until you reach the crest of the hill where you'll see a large wooden "gate". Park in the lot toward your right. Go through the entrance gate and follow the short pathway down to The Star House. Walking shoes are a good idea as are layers as the mountain air may be warm or cool.
Our concert is just before the Full Moon and Summer Solstice so the night skies will likely be bright but bring a flashlight if you like.
An evening of original acoustic music composed in a resonant French chapel and presented at the sacred Star House: passionate, lyrical, rhythmic. Megan Metheney and Rebekah West present Les Audides, their recently released album.
A dynamic Americana duo, Megan Metheney and Rebekah West deliver a creative set of original music from their current residencies in Southern France. Strengthened by West's rhythmical prowess and Metheney's world-class harpistry, the women showcase their craft with simple vocals, stellar harmonic interplay and a magnetic onstage chemistry.
Phoenix-born Megan Metheney is a classically trained harpist with a unique, inspiring style that resists the traditional classical harp. Her fresh approach to the Celtic harp reflects a love for jazz, rock and roll, acoustic world music and an ear for invention. Tasteful and accomplished, she has truly cultivated a style all her own.
Rebekah West is a Boulder, Colorado artist whose musical influences include two decades performing Flamenco dance and cajon, plus theatrical, and vocal and body rhythm. Her wondrous site-specific compositions, where she tunes into inherent nuance and rhythm, have lit up airplane hangars, sacred places and digital spaces. The American Echoes Tour and Les Audides is part of her Cabris, France artist residency exchange.
This concert's program was composed with wonder and response within a tiny medieval chapel in Cabris, France. Their CD, Les Audides, will be available for purchase following the concert.
